The sky seemed to split at dusk in Canada

A meteorologist said it is possible that some features of the terrain partially block sunlight, creating a dramatic scene.

Photographer Terri Knox captures a spectacular scene as the sun sets in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada on March 19, Global News reported. Knox has claimed that this “split sunset” photo has not been edited.

In the photo, the sun fades behind the mountains in the distance, casting a red light above. However, the bright light seemed blocked in the middle of the sky. The sky looked split in two, one side still gray and the other crimson.

Locals are extremely happy to see this spectacle, photographer Knox said. The division phenomenon is likely due to a feature of the terrain that partially blocks the sun’s rays, meteorologist Kristi Gordon said.
