Animal Animal Rescues

“Bald” animals are both cute and funny

You will surely be surprised and delighted to see the unique look of these “hairless” animals.

We often believe that only humans are “bald” and that other animals, wild animals and birds cannot “have little hair”. However, not many people know that in the vast animal world, Mother Nature accidentally cast many animals with “bald heads” which makes them extremely unique and bizarre.

Let’s review some species of bald animals according to the list on the National Geographic site below.
1. Uakari Red Baboon

With a bald head and a bright red face, the Uakari monkey (scientifically known as Cacajao calvus) can scare the weak the first time they meet it. It is a species of short-tailed macaque from South America, living in the Amazon basin.

They have a bright red face, long, bushy fur, usually brown or orange. Despite having a short tail, Uakari monkeys still move quickly on the tree due to their flexible use of arms and legs.

The peculiarity of this monkey is that when he gets sick, the red on his face also turns pale. According to the researchers, the red on the face and head of Uakari monkeys is not due to pigmentation but because this part contains many blood vessels concentrated just under the skin, showing their state of health. Therefore, in case of illness, these pigments on the skin also become paler.

Uakari monkeys usually live in the Amazon basin and are usually divided into groups of 10. They also know how to store food stored on the tree to avoid the dry season when food becomes scarce.

2. King vulture
Watching the majestic royal vultures soar in the sky, not many people think they are bald. The bright color of the head and neck of king vultures (scientific name Sarcoramphus papa) is not due to the color of the coat, but to the color of the scalp and neck.

This king vulture lives mainly in the lowland rainforests stretching from southern Mexico to northern Argentina and is known to be a scavenger.
Actuellement, selon les documents de l’Union internationale pour la conservation de la nature (UICN), le nombre d’oiseaux, bien que surpeuplé, diminue également considérablement. La principale raison invoquée par les chercheurs est qu’ils perdent leur habitat.
3. Inca orchid dog in Peru
This Peruvian dog in particular has almost no feathers, it has only a little “hair” on its head, feathers on the legs and tail. Thanks to research, scientists pointed out, this Orchid Inca dog is an ancient breed from Peru.

Their designs appear and are depicted on many ceramic artefacts dating back to 750. These artefacts date back to the Ugly civilization of northern Peru around 2,000 years ago.

According to some documents, due to the cold weather, these dogs barely survive. The Spanish conquest of Peru almost caused the extinction of the breed. The remaining dogs that have survived in rural areas have been cared for and preserved by many people, and for many it has mystical value.
