Catch a rare yellow demon-faced grouper

In late October, a strange yellow-faced demon grouper about 12 inches long caught the net from a fishing boat off Iwami in Totori Prefecture, Japan.

It is currently maintained and exhibited at the Oceanographic Institute of Sanmiyaki, Totori Prefecture. According to the institute’s marine researcher, the demon grouper is usually only yellow-brown and black.

Scientists are researching the cause of the abnormal pigmentation in this fish.

Tens of thousands of curious people came to the aquarium to admire this fish. Someone pointed out that “it is probably a gift from the sea to the Japanese people, maybe a good omen will come to this country?”
