The strange bird smells of excrement, pretending to die “to God”

The Hoatzin are birds that live in the Amazon forests and the plains of the Orinoco. It is the only bird whose claws grow on either side of the wing.

The Hoatzin bird is quite intelligent when it knows how to pretend to die to avoid enemies. When attacked, they dive into the water, use their claws to hang on, to avoid being washed away by the water. When the enemy left, they used their claws to climb to the ground and take off.

The Hoatzin is also a vegetarian bird. Their staple food consists of leaves, fruits and flowers. The Hoatzin smells of vegetable fertilizer, so it is also known as a stinky bird. Perhaps because of the foul smell, the Hoatzin are not hunted by humans as their meat cannot be turned into food.

Hoatzin birds have a digestive system similar to that of a cow, the foregut is used to crush food and ferment with bacteria. Hoatzin birds have a very large kite gestation with functions like a rumen in cows. It is this kite that keeps them from flying as far as other species.
