Vegetable leaves for a sore throat are available in your garden

Drinking water with fish lettuce leaves, chive leaves mixed with honey, lemon basil leaves, river bones … can relieve coughs and sore throats when it’s cold.

The seasonal weather is a condition favorable to the development of bacteria and viruses, causing acute sore throat, characterized by sore throat, dry cough, bronchitis … Dr Bui Dac Sang, Academy of Sciences Learning and Technology, The Vietnamese Association of Traditional Medicine, shares remedies from the leaves of garden vegetables to treat these unpleasant symptoms.

Fish lettuce leaves

Fish lettuce is spicy, cool to help dissipate heat, laxative, relieve, detoxify, and heal wounds. The essential oil ingredient in fish lettuce has an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory effect and eliminates bacteria and viruses in the throat.

People with sore throats wash the leaves of fish lettuce, let them drain, then puree or mash them and strain the juice. Then mix the juice with a little lukewarm water and sip it. Apply twice a day, continuously for 4 to 5 days.

Besides drinking it straight, fish lettuce leaves can also be combined with other herbs for better effectiveness in treating sore throats. Use about 50g of fish lettuce leaves and 20g of licorice leaves, wash them and put them in a sharp saucepan with water to drink daily. Do this regularly for two to three days.

Fish lettuce leaves can be sharpened with rice water to increase immunity, replenish nutrients, and treat sore throats. You only need 200g of fish lettuce leaves to wash, wait for the water to drip off, then mash or mash. Then boil about 300ml of water to wash the rice, then add lettuce and fish to the boil, then turn off the heat. During the boiling process, mix well to mix the substances. Finally, remove the residue, take the juice to drink morning and evening every day.

Chive leaves

Chive leaves contain proteins, vitamins A, C, calcium, phosphorus and fiber, spicy, lukewarm to support the kidneys, tonic, detoxifying, phlegm… In chives, the leaves contain odor components. as an antibiotic against staphylococci and strains of bacteria.

You can take a small handful of fresh chive leaves and wash them with water, crush them to apply to the sore throat. Then roll up the bandage to hold the sheet cover on for about 30 minutes, then remove and rinse the neck with clean water.

Or, steam the crushed chive leaf mixture with two tablespoons of honey for 15 minutes. The grandchildren take the juice and drink while it is still hot, the chive pulp used for sucking will soothe the pain and effectively relieve the sore throat.

Lemon and basil leaves

Lemon basil is an easy to grow spicy vegetable with a pleasant aroma, acidity and warmth. In traditional medicine, lemon basil has the effect of spreading the wind, sputum, antiseptics, used to treat coughs, sore throats, flu, asthma, fever …

To cure sore throat, you use a handful of lemon basil leaves with a handful of soil, bring thick water and filter the drinking water. Taken twice a day, reduces symptoms such as sore throat, difficulty swallowing, difficulty speaking, and hoarseness caused by a sore throat. Fresh lemon basil cooked with boiling water or add steamed ginger and onions for sweat, effectively reduce fatigue.

River leaves

River leaves are spicy, hot and non-toxic, treat colds, coughs, asthma, bloating, add waste, destroy phlegm, detoxify … River bone drugs combine honey with anti -inflammatory and bacteria and heal sores in the throat

You can use three leaves from the river baker to chop with 5 tablespoons of pure honey. Then put the two ingredients in a bowl and steam them in water for about 15 minutes. Filter the drinking water several times a day. Do this method continuously for about 3-5 days, the best healing effect.

Dry river bones can also be a great drink. Take about 20 g of dried river leaves, cook in water for about 10 minutes, then turn off the heat.
