Turtles have an hourglass shell due to the tightness of the string

Thai cleaners found a small turtle with a belly and shell attached in the middle because of a tight rubber band in Chonburi province last week.

The hourglass-shaped appearance of a pond turtle on the road attracts the attention of cleaners. Upon closer inspection, they found the elastic band tightly wrapped around her abdomen. In addition to the odd shell, the turtle appears healthy. According to experts, the turtle can be caught on rubber bands from an early age.

The workers removed the rubber band from the body of the pond turtle and dropped it into the bushes near the lake. “If we don’t find the turtle, no one knows what will happen to it. The poor animal has been swallowed for a long time,” said the turtle’s rescuer.

Pond turtles live in both fresh and brackish waters such as ponds, lakes, and lagoons. This turtle is a predator, specializing in hunting snails, worms, frogs and fish. Although pond turtles often crawl in their shells to hide their predators, their bites are quite painful.
