This photo is made up of 25 thumbnails to create amazingly high resolution!
An astrophysicist in California, USA named Andrew McCarthy recently posted an image of the Moon on Reddit, but the peculiarity is that this image has a very high resolution, up to 81 megapixels!
The image was uploaded just three days after NASA President Jim Bridenstine announced the company would seek to bring people to the moon by 2028. “This time around, we won’t just let go the Moon mark and leave your shoes hidden, and then wait 50 years to come back. This time we will come back to live, with robots, rovers and humans!
Returning to the owner of the above image, Mr. McCarthy is a software engineer but has a passion for astronomy and has many images that have caught people’s attention. This image was created using the Orion XT10 telescope, mounted on the Skywatcher EQ6-R, two cameras, the Sony A7ii and the ZWO ASI224MC. The final image is made up of 25 different thumbnails, and each of these images is the result of overlaying 1000 images to increase resolution and reduce signal noise. All these processes are managed by 2 software, Autostakkert and Photoshop.
McCarthy explained, “This process involves a variety of overlays, different contrasts to create the final image. The inspiration for this image came to me from an early age, when I looked through the telescope. father He showed me the different planets. and the Moon too. Thanks in part to the current technology. ”
His image was posted to the r / space subdirectory and received 148,000 upvotes and 3,300 comments. This is not the first time that McCarthy has received attention for his photos, he also has other famous works from the Moon and distant galaxies.
Some other photos of Mr. McCarthy:
“I am delighted that people are interested in these images, and I can inspire a passion for astronomy that is similar to what my father made me,” said McCarthy. The interesting thing about astronomy is that the universe is so big and so much can happen, every little dot that we see has something so beautiful that is beyond human imagination!
