The first elevator is put into service

When the first elevator saw the light of day on March 23, 1857, many people doubted its operation. Since it was the world’s first elevator at the time, it was installed in a restaurant on Broadway in New York.

The first elevator was born out of Elisha Otis, an American industrialist, who now used pulley systems to pull or lower elevators, and in 1870 Elisha Otis’ company was the Otis Brothers. USD, a few years after its creation, it marketed 2,000 otis elevators.
