The cat who lives in a clinic in the United States can appear to know when a patient is about to die by curling up with them a few hours in advance.
Observations showed this 2-year-old cat was right in 25 cases and this caused hospital staff to automatically call the patient’s family member.

“The animal makes very little mistake. It seems to understand when the patient is dying,” said David Dosa, a professor at Brown University, author of the study.
The cat named Oscar was brought from an early age to the Steere Care and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, Rhode Island. It also surrounds hospital beds like doctors and nurses, but is generally not very patient friendly. While most families are grateful for Oscar’s warning, some have asked to take the animal with them when saying goodbye to a loved one. When pushed out of the room, Oscar often scratches the door and howls bitterly.
“Cats can smell when the owner or other animals are sick,” says Thomas Graves, a cat specialist at the University of Illinois. “
A doctor at the center believes there is a biological explanation for the animal, not the predictable cat.
