If you want to see a diamond sky you should go to these places

Scientists believe that the diamonds will fall from the clouds on Saturn and Jupiter.

We know that in order to form a diamond on Earth, it is necessary to combine many elements with each other. Diamond is formed from carbon located about 161 km deep underground, at a temperature of about 1,093 degrees Celsius and a pressure of over 4 billion pascals.

But you know, diamonds can also be made on planets other than Earth!

Scientists reveal that there is an abundance of diamonds in the cores of small, cold planets like Neptune and Uranus.

Initially, two planetologists Mona Delitsky from the California Special Engineering Agency (CSE) in Pasadena, California (United States) and Kevin Baines from the University of Wisconsin – Madison (United States) believed that planets like Saturn and Jupiter were not didn’t have the right atmosphere to create diamond showers like Uranus and Neptune.

But after analyzing the pressure and temperature in the atmospheres of Jupiter and Saturn, the team modeled the planetary structure and concluded that both planets may contain a lot of diamonds.

So, the process of diamond formation on Saturn will take place like?

First, when methane is released into Saturn’s upper atmosphere, under the impact of a storm, the thunder turns into soot.

Then the soot pellets fell from a height of nearly 6,000 km and returned to Saturn. Here they are pressed into diamonds under extreme thermal pressure.

“After the planet suffers from hurricanes, a large number of diamonds could form on Saturn. It is estimated that nearly one million kilograms of diamonds fall on Saturn each year,” Kevin said.

Eventually, these gems fall into the lower atmosphere, near the core of the planet, and turn into a “sea” of molten diamond carbon.

For nearly 30 years, scientists have believed that a solid diamond can be stable in the nuclei of Uranus and Neptune.

However, it is believed that the cores of Jupiter and Saturn are too hot to form solid diamonds.

In general, the four planets Uranus, Neptune, Saturn and Jupiter can all be fertile soils rich in diamonds.

The surfaces of these planets all have tremendous pressure to compress carbon into diamonds. In addition, the wind speed on Saturn can reach 1609 km / h. So if a spaceship went to Saturn, the diamonds would pass through and destroy it like hundreds of thousands of bullets.
