Close up of Mars in the middle of the Ice Age

Mars is currently in the middle of an ice age, and the planet’s Arctic is as covered in ice and snow as our Arctic.

NASA has just released images that its Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft took more than a decade to approach the arctic region of Mars, showing a breathtaking view of the most icy region on the planet.

The image took some time to reach Earth and was analyzed and reconstructed with the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter HiRISE tool so that we could clearly see the landscape as it is under sunlight.
