Dwarves threaten to “rain” asteroids in the solar system

A dwarf has the ability to “rain” an asteroid in the solar system and destroy life on Earth.

Dwarf HIP 85605, one of 14 stars moving towards Earth, is able to shoot asteroids into the Oort Nebula cloud in the solar system, threatening life on Earth, Express reported on July 15. The chance of this star reaching the Oort at the edge of the solar system is 90%, according to experts.

“Although objects rarely meet in the universe due to very long distances, the gravitational impact of a star is very large,” said Alan Duffy, a cosmological physicist at Swinburn University, Australia.

According to Duffy, poorly anchored objects inside Oort can only vibrate under the impact of a force a light year away. Objects here have also been thrown into the solar system by the impact of nearby stars.

Dr Coryn Bailer-Jones of the Mac Planck Institute for Astronomy, Germany, in a study published in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics, said that after about 240,000 years, HIP 85605 would likely be around three light years away from Earth.

The location of the HIP 85605 may be inaccurate due to a measurement problem. HIP 85605 is located in the constellation Hercules, approximately 18-28 light years from the Sun.
