Scientists propose to use drones to explore Venus

Scientists from Moscow Aviation University (MAI) came up with the idea of exploring Venus using drones.

The mission of a Venus explorer drone can include measuring temperature, pressure, heat flow, wind speed

Scientists propose to use multi-rotor turboprop planes capable of vertical takeoff and landing on the surface as a data collection tool. Its functions may include measuring temperature, pressure, heat flow, wind speed; analysis of the structure, composition and traces of physical parameters of clouds, as well as the chemical composition of the atmosphere.

A 15 kg drone can carry 9 kg of cargo. For example, cameras for taking photos and videos; Gas collectors and gas analyzers for studying the atmosphere. The drone is powered by a rechargeable battery located inside the fuselage.

In the near future, the developers plan to make in-depth calculations, complete the structural scheme of this drone and choose the material of manufacture suitable for the conditions of Venus.

As the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences previously reported, the launch of the Venera-D interplanetary automatic station could take place in 2029. The first flight to Venus has been in the Soviet era. new Russian expedition to study in depth the second planet of the solar system. Studies on the surface, atmosphere, surrounding plasma environment and internal structure of Venus are planned to be carried out at an early stage.
