Giant meteorite discovered larger than Great Pyramid of Giza rushes towards Earth

Meteors larger than the Great Pyramid of Giza are approaching Earth at speeds of over 30,000 km / h.

Recently, scientists announced that a giant asteroid was flying toward Earth at speeds of up to 32,400 km / h and would reach Earth on August 29 here.

The NF23 2016 object is twice the size of a Boeing 747 and is even larger than the Great Egyptian Pyramid of Giza – the only ancient wonder left on Earth today.

It is known to be a discovery by NASA, located as part of the Celestial Bodies Near Earth (NEO) mission to identify potential dangers that may appear. According to experts, 2016 NF23 is classified as “potentially dangerous” – the category of asteroids with a minimum distance of less than 7 million km and an absolute brightness (H) of 22 and above (2016 NF23 has an absolute brightness of 22, 9).

However, by calculation, the possibility of it colliding with Earth is extremely low. Most likely, it will pass us as close as 4.8 million kilometers.

In recent years, NASA has turned to identifying flying objects over 140 meters. The reason is that more than 90% of potentially catastrophic meteorites over 1 km in size have already been located.

In comparison, only 10% of the smaller objects were found, while they are still potentially as deadly as 2016 NF23.
