Crocodiles climb over fence to “enter” US military base

Residents Christina Stewart recorded a large crocodile climbing the lattice fence surrounding Naval Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Fla. On August 17.

Authorities at the military base (NAS) shared a photo of the crocodile hanging from the fence and said they had no plans to move it elsewhere. “We have a few crocodiles on the base and they don’t respect our safety measures. Always be careful with children and pets. Golfers should also be careful. Never approach them!” Said the rep. by NAS Jacksonville.

Crocodiles are great climbers, according to the University of Florida. People should build fences at least 1.5 meters high if you want to keep alligators from crawling around their yards. The lower fence is not enough for security.

Tree climbing is a common behavior among shortnose crocodiles and longnose crocodiles. While there are no special adaptive pieces to cling to branches, crocodiles can still climb trees with large limbs.
