The best places to watch this 14th century super moon

You will only be able to see such a big full moon again for at least 18 years, so don’t miss this special occasion!

As noted, on November 14, 2016, we will have the opportunity to contemplate an astonishing astronomical phenomenon – the super moon of the century.

According to astronomers, the supermoon will be the fullest and brightest at 1:52 p.m. on 11/14 GMT, or around 8:52 p.m. on the same day as Vietnam Time.

At this point, the orbit of the Moon and the Earth will be the closest to each other since January 1948. As a result, the Moon becomes a super moon – it will be brighter, bigger than ever during of the past 70 years. By being closer to Earth, the shape of the Moon observed from Earth is 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual.

It should be understood that the super moon phenomenon occurs due to the strange egg-shaped orbit of the moon. Part of that orbit – known as the point of paralysis – is when the moon would be 48,280 km closer to Earth than it would have been at the polar point.

The moment the Moon is aligned with the Sun and the Earth, this causes an effect called syzygy phenomenon – then the Moon appears larger than normal and is also known as a supermoon.

The larger than usual moon appears after a cross symbol on top of a church in Ryazan, Russia.

Although we will be hosting another super moon in December 2016, this time is the biggest, as the distance between us and this natural satellite is even closer. Therefore, this phenomenon should not be missed because it is not until 2034 that you will see a supermoon of similar size.

And to be able to fully admire this astonishing astronomical phenomenon, these are the places not to be missed.

1. Dark place, keep away from artificial light

Wherever you are, you should definitely choose a dark place for yourself, avoiding artificial light as much as possible.

Your eyes should avoid exposure to white light for about 20 minutes to fully adapt and admire the whole phenomenon.

2. Watch the moon on a long beach

It should be noted that, when observing the super moon, it can be observed completely with the naked eye without any eye protection.

And to have every chance of seeing the Moon rise from the horizon, choose a place on the beach right away.

Obviously here you won’t be afraid of being obscured by a tall building or a mountain. Only you and the sea welcome the moon – it’s too romantic!

3. Look at the super moon on the mountain

Like the sea, isn’t it a bad idea to watch the Moon slowly emerge from behind giant mountains? But it’s more interesting if you use binoculars and a small telescope, to see clearly.

4. … or near a large iconic structure

Super moon appears next to the Oregon Convention Center, Portland, Oregon, USA.

To get these “virtual panoramic” images, there is no reason not to pick a famous icon and show off your photography skills.

And a few notes when taking pictures of supermoon:

– To take photos directly with a smartphone, it is recommended to put the phone on a firm tilted position or on a tripod, this will prevent the image from shaking with the hand, and the camera can take photos at very high low speed without damaging the image. stain again!

– The travel camera has an advantage over telephones with optical zoom (from 3x to 60x depending on the type). Set to full manual or semi-automatic mode.

Remember, don’t miss the opportunity to watch this century’s super moon – the full moon and brightest hour at 1:52 p.m. 11/14 GMT, which is approximately 8:52 p.m. on the same day as Vietnam time .
