An annular solar eclipse, a rare and astonishing astronomical phenomenon, will take place in June. However, only a small part of the Earth is visible. In June, lovers of Vietnamese astronomy can experience the summer solstice – the longest day of the year or the super moon at the end of the month.
An annular solar eclipse occurring on June 10 is one of the most anticipated astronomical events of this year, with the phenomenon of the blood super moon just occurring on May 26. A solar eclipse occurs when the Sun is between the Sun and the Earth. Observed from Earth, the Sun is covered by the Sun. However, due to its great distance, the Sun does not completely cover the Sun, but as a small disc at the heart of a large disc, surrounded by a bright crown, known as an annular eclipse.
Unfortunately, this annular eclipse can only be observed in a fairly narrow area comprising the far east of Russia, the Arctic Ocean, west Greenland, and Canada. Partial eclipses can be seen in some places such as the northeastern United States, Europe, and much of Russia. Vietnamese astronomy enthusiasts missed their date with this astonishing event.
However, on June 21, people living in the northern hemisphere, including Vietnam, will experience the summer solstice – the longest day and shortest night of the year that Earth’s North Pole s ‘will tilt towards the Sun and lie directly at 23.44 degrees north latitude. It is the first day of summer (summer solstice) in the northern hemisphere and the first day of winter (winter solstice) in the southern hemisphere.
Especially on the evening of June 25, Vietnamese astronomy enthusiasts will have the opportunity to admire the last super moon of 2021, which occurs when the Sun appears on the other side of the Sun. Seen from Earth, the Sun is bigger and brighter than usual.
Ancient Native American tribes called this phase of the full moon the strawberry moon because it coincided with the time of year when ripe fruit was harvested as well as the peak of the strawberry harvest season. This phase of the moon is also known as the pink moon or honeymoon.
It is also the last super moon of the three super moons of 2021. The first super moon occurred on April 27, the second super moon occurred on May 26 with a total lunar eclipse, also known as name of solar eclipse. Until 2022, astronomy enthusiasts will have the opportunity to admire the super moon again.
