The retired couple harvest a knee-deep potato with six “toes” in their garden.
Marli and Paulo Ciquinel unearthed a large potato with an unusual shape in a backyard vegetable patch in Meleiro, Santa Catarina state, Brazil, Mirror reported on August 9. The tuber looks like feet, with small branches sticking out like human toes.
Branches vary in size and order with the largest outer branch covered with many roots being the thumb. The tubercle is close to the knee and has up to 6 toes.
Le Ciquinel and his wife grow sweet potatoes and other vegetables in the garden. “We’ve never seen anything like it. Maybe we’ll show it if anyone wants to see it,” Marli said.
The couple have retired and have been growing potatoes for about six years now. They often grow vegetables to eat but don’t plan to cook that particular potato. “I was a little scared when I harvested it,” she added.
