Animal Animal Rescues

We found “living fossils” of ghost sharks

Very few people in the world have ever heard of an extremely rare species called the ghost shark. But the Japanese discovered this ancient living creature and even released it to play in a lake. Unfortunately, the animal died on January 27.

“We showed it to the lake and showed it to the public,” said a Tokyo Marine Park official. Zoo staff found the shark in Tokyo Bay when they cruised with a local fisherman on January 25. The long-nosed gray shark has been captured in fishermen’s nets at a depth of about 150-200 meters and about 1.3 meters in length.

“Ghost sharks are still often caught, but rarely alive. This time we were able to record their swimming patterns. After his death we had to undergo surgery to find out more, ”he said.

This creature is only found in the deep waters off the coast of Japan, South Africa, and in a strange case in the Indian Ocean. Very little is known about his life.

Like prehistoric sharks, the ghost shark has stick-shaped teeth and protruding jaws, proving that it is a fish hunter.
