Snow-white reindeer puzzled in front of the camera

Photographer Mads Nordsveen captured an image of a young reindeer with snow-white fur on a Norwegian mountain.

A lucky young reindeer with a full white body luckily entered the lens of photographer Mads Nordsveen on a trip to northern Norway, Dodo reported on December 6. The animal came out of a forest in the mountains and seemed to blend into the white snow.

The young reindeer would only be a few months old and actively approached the photographer. “He came very close to me and we looked each other in the eye,” Nordsveen said. The animal is not afraid and is very friendly. He was looking curiously at the camera as if posing for a photo.

The rare moment lasts a few minutes before the mother reindeer with the brown plumage appears and the young reindeer then leaves. “He circled us a few times before coming back to her. The timing was magical! It was like stepping out of a fairy tale,” Nordsveen said.

Photos taken by Nordsveen showed the animal was not an albino case. Her white coat is caused by a genetic mutation, which results in loss of pigmentation in the entire coat, but the eye color remains the same. White reindeer are rare in the wild and are considered a symbol of good fortune in the culture of the Sami people.
